Look and Feel Younger with the ARTAS® Robotic FUE at Hans Wiemann

Hans Wiemann is one of a select few clinics in the U.S that offers the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant Procedure. This hair loss solution has revolutionized the way the industry performs hair transplants, offering pinpoint accuracy and precision far beyond human capabilities as well as consistently natural-looking results in a straightforward virtually pain-free procedure.

Hair transplants move healthy donor hair follicle groupings to areas of the scalp where hair loss has occurred. Robotic Hair Transplants have systematically improved this process providing medical professionals scientific accuracy without an incision. The ARTAS® system uses artificial intelligence algorithms to accurately map the coordinates, angle and orientation of each follicle grouping.

Afterwards, the system harvests the donor hair follicles and redistributes them to the target problem area. Your hair follicles continue to grow gradually in their new location providing a fuller, thicker head of hair without any linear scarring, giving the illusion that no procedure has occurred!

Robotic Hair Transplants are among the most technologically advanced hair restoration procedures available offering distinct advantages over other procedures. The results of the ARTAS® procedure are permanent. The procedure is minimally invasive, requiring no scalp incision. The procedure creates no linear scars and most importantly, the procedure is faster than traditional hair transplant procedures and requires less recovery time.

Some of our clients wish to share their experiences in the hopes that it might provide insight to what Hans Wiemann can offer them. Brian, an actual ARTAS® client, shared his story with us and since his procedure has made a significant lifestyle change.

Brian started losing his hair and began researching various hair restoration facilities and noticed the large number of options Hans Wiemann offers. Brian was interested in the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant procedure because of its use of cutting-edge technology. “I was at a spot where my hair was kind of spotty, thin in certain areas but thick in another area so transplanting the hair I had into those locations seemed a better fit for me.”

When asked how he feels now, Brian had this to say: “I feel much better. Actually my hair growing back has made me want to take better care of myself. I’ve actually lost 20 pounds in the last three months. Looking younger, I’ve actually started doing things to make myself feel younger as well.”

At Hans Wiemann, we are dedicated to helping you restore your own growing hair to the look you want. Getting your hair back can be the start of a brand new you from your looks to your lifestyle.

Hair Loss in Families - Is It From Mom or Dad?

So, you are only in your mid-twenties to early thirties and you’ve noticed that you’re beginning to lose hair. First and foremost gentlemen, remember that everyone naturally and routinely loses hair. Just because your hair brush may look a little congested at the moment, doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going bald. Second, if you notice your hair is falling out in irregular clumps, you may be experiencing some form of stress or another medical condition. If this is the case, please consult your doctor’s office. Third, it may be that indeed you are experiencing some form of hair loss. If this is the case, you may want to consult a professional hair restoration facility like Hans Wiemann.

You’ve determined that you are suffering some form of hair loss. Who, or what, is at fault? Mother’s genes? Father’s genes? An environmental factor?  Recent studies have found that the link between androgenic alopecia, more commonly known as Male Pattern Baldness (MPB) and the genetics inherited from your mother may be the stuff of myth. According to recent studies from the Aderans Research Institute, MPB is believed to be the interplay of several different genetic, hormonal and environmental factors.

The symptoms of MPB can begin as early as age 20. Typically, the process begins with a receding hairline and slowly spreads across the crown. Normally, each strand of hair grows for roughly two to six years. After a resting period, the hair falls out and is replaced with a new strand. With MPB, the hair follicle becomes smaller. The hair grows shorter and finer until eventually the follicle no longer grows hair. For most men, the entire process of going bald takes 15 to 25 years. That said, some men go bald in five years or less depending on the severity of their hair loss.

Is Mom to Blame?
It has been widely believed that hair loss is passed down from your mother’s genes. This is neither correct nor incorrect. While it’s true that a key gene for baldness lies on the X chromosome, which is inherited from your mother, it is not the only genetic factor at work. Men with bald or balding fathers have an increased chance of experiencing baldness when compared to men whose fathers have a full head of hair.

There are only a small number of scientific studies in regarding the genetics of MPB and there is only a single known family study on MPB. This study of patterns of hair growth in 22 families concluded that baldness was an autosomal dominant phenotype in men and an autosomal recessive phenotype in women. However, these results are questionable due to the lack of details regarding examination methods and sampling errors in this study, which was published in 1916.
What is known is that there are often times when an accelerated rate of progression of MPB will correlate with another event such as a change in medication or the progression of another medical disorder.

Is Dad to Blame?
A study that examined 410 men who were experiencing early onset baldness found evidence of a genetic influence from their father’s side in only 236 cases. The hair loss similarities between father and son have been observed in another study. The frequency of MPB in brothers of men having bald fathers was 66 percent compared to 46 percent with brothers of men with unaffected fathers. Further evidence against a single gene being responsible for MPB is the observation that only 33 percent of the fathers of 18 women suffering from baldness also had MPB. This finding suggests that other autosomal genes play an important role in MPB.

Could it be something else?
A study that involved 250 men between the ages of 35 and 65 found that those with blood pressure levels above 120 over 80 may have two times the risk of hair loss compared to those without.
You are in good company. You don’t have to settle for a thinning hair line or total hair loss. Medications that May Cause Hair Loss

Image
A number of factors such as genetics or age can cause men and women to experience hair loss, but sometimes hair loss is caused by the medications you’re taking. In most cases, medications lead to temporary hair loss, and your hair will grow back once you adjust the dose or stop taking the medication completely. However, sometimes medications can cause you to develop male or female pattern baldness, which may lead to permanent hair loss. Hair loss typically begins 12 weeks after starting a new medication. If hair loss is concern for you, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting a new medication. Below is a list of medications with possible hair loss side effects.

Anticoagulants (blood thinners): Anticoagulant medications help fend off blood clots and prevent complications in people with certain conditions, such as heart disease. Anticoagulants may cause telogen effluvium — a type of hair loss that can affect the entire scalp rather than just a specific area. Anticoagulants that can lead to hair loss include warfarin sodium (Panwarfarin, Sofarin, Coumadin) and heparin injections.

Gout medications: Medications that are used to treat gout, such as Allopurinol, can also lead to telogen effluvium. Brand names include Lopurin and Zyloprim.

Beta blockers: These types of medications help reduce the workload of your heart and help to lower blood pressure. Beta blockers that have been known to cause telogen effluvium include Atenolol (Tenormin), Metoprolol (Lopressor), Nadolol (Corgord), Propranolol (Inderal, Inderal LA), and Timolol (Blocadren).

Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACE): ACE inhibitors are another type of blood pressure medication that have also been linked to telogen effluvium. Specific ACE inhibitors include Captopril (Capoten), Lisinopril (Zestril, Prinivil), Enalapril (Vasotec).

Vitamin A: If taken in large quantities vitamin A can cause telogen effluvium. Many acne medications typically contain vitamin A.

Female hormones: Female hormones may trigger hair loss. Birth control pills and hormone medications such as progesterone and estrogen have been known to possibly cause telogen effluvium and female pattern baldness.

Male Hormones: Just like female hormones male hormones can also trigger hair loss. Men who take testosterone or anabolic steroids may experience male pattern baldness.

Antidepressants: Certain medications used to treat depression and anxiety are also known to cause telogen effluvium, including Amitriptyline (Elavil, Endep), Amoxapine (Asendin), Clomipramine (Anafranil), Desipramine (Norpramin, Pertofrane), Doxepin (Adapin, Sinequan), Fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac), Haloperidol (Haldol), Imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil, Tofranil PM), Nortriptyline (Pamelor, Aventyl), Paroxetine (Paxil), Protriptyline hydrochloride (Vivactil), Sertraline hydrochloride (Zoloft), and Trimipramine (Surmontil)

Anticonvulsants: Anti-seizure medications can lead to diffuse patterned hair loss, which is when there is thinning hair on the top of the scalp but the hair on the sides and the back of the scalp remain intact. These medications include trimethadione (Tridione) and valproic acid (Depakote).

If you think that your hair loss is because of more than just your medication than call Hans Wiemann at (314) 721-6657 to schedule your FREE hair and scalp analysis. Our highly trained technicians will perform an in-depth scientifically proven, microscopic hair and scalp analysis, which will give you the information you need to suggest the right course of action to take concerning your hair. Come and see what sets Hans Wiemann apart from the competition.

Genetics & Hair Loss

Hair loss can be triggered by a variety of factors like stress, diet, health, even something as simple as a hairstyle can cause hair loss, but one of the most important factors can be found in our genes. Genetics can provide a lot of information about a person such as their eye and hair color but genes can also tell us a great deal about our hair loss.

Most male hair loss is caused by Androgenetic Alopecia more commonly known as Male Pattern
Baldness, a genetic condition that affects over 95% of men. Research has shown that genetic hair loss such as androgenetic alopecia is connected to hormones called androgens. Androgens play several important functions in the human body including regulating hair growth, particularly an androgen called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Dihydrotestosterone is an androgen hormone and a by-product of testosterone. Androgenetic alopecia is caused by the hair follicle's sensitivity to DHT. A DHT sensitivity causes follicles to shrink, resulting in a shorter lifespan and the abnormal production of hair. Hair follows a natural cycle it has a growing phase and a resting phase without proper nutrition, the resting stage gets longer while their growing phases get shorter.

At Hans Wiemann genetics are no longer an issue. Voted the largest treatment center in the country we utilize the very latest cutting-edge technology to help people solve their hair loss problems. ARTAS® - The Future of Hair Restoration

Over the past two decades robotic surgery has become increasingly popular, and with technological advances, ARTAS® Robotics has taken the lead. The ARTAS Robotic FUE Hair Transplant System was developed by leading hair transplant physicians and engineers to provide natural looking results without the complications associated with traditional methods. ARTAS eliminates the guesswork and fatigue associated with manual handheld methods, allowing for more precise and consistent hair transplant procedures. This less invasive technique grants patients with faster procedures, decreased recovery time, and reduced pain.

Traditional FUE Procedures:
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a relatively new procedure in the world of hair restoration. Although, it is a less invasive procedure, many physicians have not rapidly embraced it because it requires challenging specialized training. FUE demands the surgeon to manually analyze follicle angle and direction in addition to skin type. As a result, the procedure may be slow and tedious.

The ARTAS Difference:
ARTAS® Robotics utilizes the FUE method, but is designed specifically to assist the surgeon throughout the FUE procedure — unlike traditional methods. The physician controls the computer-assisted arm that utilizes advanced digital imagery to harvest hair follicles. ARTAS analyzes the scalp and harvests the most viable follicles, thus the graft quality is extremely high. The system allows the physician to supply the patient with maximum results, and little to no recovery time. This is the latest technological advancement in the hair restoration industry.

This less invasive procedure makes hair restoration much more attractive to those interested in a transplant; there is reduced recovery time, discomfort, and. The ARTAS system revolutionizes the entire hair restoration experience for both the patient and the physician.

As a leader in hair restoration and hair treatments, Hans Wiemann has teamed up with ARTAS Robotics to provide today’s most state-of-the-art hair transplant system to those in the mid-west. Hans Wiemann is the only facility within a 750 mile radius to offer ARTAS. Hans Wiemann continues to lead the industry in providing the best and most up to date technology to its patients.
